Chelsea Vs Manchester United Match Report

After an Excellent performance at Stamford Bridge, Manchester United were brought down by a controversial goal in the seventy sixth minute goal by Chelsea skipper John Terry.

Ferguson’s men had long periods of possession for most of the game and looked the stronger and more confident side. But after dubious foul on Ashley Cole, where Darren Fletcher clearly won the ball, the blues were awarded a free kick by Martin Atkinson. United were understandably angered by the decision and the anger soon turned to indignation when Terry glanced his header home from Frank Lampard’s delivery in the left corner of the goal. Ferguson’s men were also angered as during the build up to the goal where Brown was clearly pulled down by Didier Drogba. The same player also got a foot to the ball before John Terry’s goal although being in an offside position.

United dominated throughout the game and had many chances in the first half. The best of which was in the 29th minute when Giggs struck the ball first time on the volley, looping his shot just a little too high over Petr Cech and subsequently the crossbar.

Ferguson’s men started the second half as they did the first with an early chance involving Giggs, Rooney and Anderson. A well-worked move across the area by Rooney, ended with Giggs crossing the ball just too high for Anderson at the far post. Fletcher was then denied again on the hour mark, as Ricardo Carvalho brilliantly raced out to block the Scotsman’s 20-yard effort.

The game became feisty as emotions ran high as the Reds pressed on for an equalizer. In the 84th minute Valencia flashed a shot just wide from a good position inside the area and was followed by a double substitution for the Reds. Giggs and Anderson were replaced by Gabriel Obertan and Michael Owen as Sir Alex rolled his dice.

It made for a frantic finish with five minutes of injury time largely due to Drogba spending time injured on the floor. The Reds gave it a big final push but there wasn’t enough time to break the home side’s stubborn resistance.

Even though Ryan Giggs and co dominated throughout, various Referring decisions and rare defensive lapses have put the champions and the gunners five points behind Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

Look like Manchester United finally came outside of the hibernate state. They played superb football. If there were not some controversial referring decision, they could easily snatched the game with exception of Chelsea defend. Technical Man U are brilliant than Chelsea, but some physical game play is also needed. If they could play like that for rest of the season, no doubt Manchester United will be champions again.

Football is a funny old game – my belief was that Manchester United were going to be triumphant when they met Chelsea at Stamford Bridge especially after the away result at Anfield but I have to eat humble pie. If we have to be honest and say which club deserved the win after watching the game then it as got to go in favour of United and more so for not been up to full strength as key players were missing. Also I think, and this does make a change, the ref went with Chelsea a few times on decisions at the expense of United. Surprisingly I thought Brown and Evans in the defensive role did quite well, much better than anticipated. Rooney had his chances but been on your lonesome held him back somewhat and this I believe was United’s downfall in the lack of goals and even attempts, so as for bringing Owen on when the whistle is about to blow is ludicrous and I cannot figure Ferguson’s game plan here?

Excellext game!! But one person keeps showing up. It was Anderson. What a joke. Honestly I think he should be traded (if they can trade him with his talent??) or sell him. It seems like everytime I seen him play I’m not impressed. Most of his passes are overpower and/or misses. The very few times he passes great on the pitch, he doesn’t get the ball back, and he has his stupid face on (pass it to me i can score look). But the 3 yrs he has been with United he only scored ONCE. For someone who is thought to have great talent…I think not. He never makes the national squad for the world cup. For someone who is thought to have talent… uh…where are you? not good enough to make regular spot on national team? I don’t know how much they spent for him, but i don’t think your gonna get your money back with him. on the other hand…obertan.. what a pick up…GREAT foot work, i’m impressed…valencia…great speed, but stops the flow of the counter too many times.
they needed berba for this game to bad…. GO United! take the league
